Amal M. Johnson has been a member of our Board of Directors since April 2010. From March 2012 to December 2017, Ms. Johnson was a member of the Board of Directors of Author-it Software Corporation, a Software as a Service (“SaaS”) private company that provides a platform for creating, maintaining, and distributing single-sourced technical content. During her tenure at Author-it, she served as executive chairman from March 2012 to October 2016.
Prior to joining Author-it, Johnson led MarketTools, Inc., a SaaS company, as chief executive officer from 2005 to 2008, and then as chairman of the Board of Directors until the company was acquired in January 2012.
She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of CalAmp since December 2013 and as chairman since July 2020 until her service ended in July 2022. She has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Essex Property Trust, Inc. since February 2018, and Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. from October 2006 through April 2020, until its acquisition by NVIDIA Corporation.
Johnson attended Montclair State University where she earned a BA in mathematics. She also studied computer science at the Stevens Institute of Technology, Graduate School of Engineering. Johnson self-identifies as Middle Eastern and Asian.
